These terms explain the basis on which Saffron Shops provides this website. “Saffron Shops”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of this local directory and town guide. Questions about these terms can be sent to privacy@saffronshops.com.
Please read these terms before using the site. If you do not agree with them, you should stop using it. Nothing here limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
2. A directory, not a seller
Saffron Shops helps you discover businesses, places and local history. Unless expressly stated otherwise, we do not sell or supply the goods or services offered by listed businesses, take bookings for them or act as their agent.
Any purchase, booking or other arrangement you make with a business is between you and that business. Check its prices, availability, suitability and own terms before committing. A listing or homepage feature is not a guarantee, certification or endorsement.
3. Information and availability
We aim to provide useful information, but listings, opening hours, contact details and historical material may contain errors or become outdated. Please check important details directly with the business or relevant source, particularly before travelling.
We may correct or update content and suspend access for maintenance, security or other reasonable operational needs. We do not promise uninterrupted access. Please tell us about inaccurate or misleading content so we can investigate.
4. Using the site responsibly
You must not misuse the site, introduce harmful code, attempt unauthorised access, impersonate another person, use it unlawfully or deliberately interfere with other people’s use. Automated access must not bypass protections or place an unreasonable load on the service.
Authorised administrators must keep their credentials confidential, use only information they are entitled to manage and report suspected account misuse promptly. We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the service or address misuse.
5. Business details and contributions
Saffron Shops may automatically add shops, cafés, restaurants and other businesses in Saffron Walden to the directory using publicly available business information, without a request from or prior contact with the owner. Inclusion does not mean that the owner has approved the listing, partnered with Saffron Shops or endorsed the website.
If you own or are authorised to represent a listed business and would like its listing removed, email privacy@saffronshops.com with the business name and, if possible, a link to the listing. You can use the same address to request a correction. We may ask for reasonable confirmation that you represent the business before making changes. Once confirmed, we will remove the listing from public view as soon as reasonably practicable, without charge.
If you supply a listing, photograph, correction or other material, you must have authority to provide it and the rights and permissions needed for its intended use. Material must be accurate to the best of your knowledge, lawful and respectful of other people’s privacy and intellectual property.
You retain ownership of material you provide. By asking us to publish it, you give Saffron Shops a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to reproduce, format and display it for the directory and its operation, including through service providers acting for us. This does not transfer ownership or permit unrelated use.
We may edit formatting, seek clarification, decline publication or remove content for reasonable editorial, accuracy, rights or safety reasons. We do not guarantee permanent inclusion or a particular position in the directory. Contact us if you want supplied material corrected or removed; necessary archival or backup copies may remain in accordance with our privacy policy.
6. Copyright and permitted use
The Saffron Shops branding, original content and website design are protected by applicable intellectual property rights. Third-party photographs, quotations and other material remain subject to their owners’ rights and any licences credited alongside them.
You may browse, link to pages and make reasonable personal, non-commercial copies, preserving relevant credits. Wider reuse requires permission unless allowed by law or an applicable open licence. These terms do not restrict rights granted by Creative Commons or other third-party licences.
You may link fairly to the website, but must not imply an association or endorsement that does not exist. Please report suspected infringement with the relevant page address and details of the rights concerned.
7. External links
Links to businesses, maps, historical sources and other websites are provided for convenience. Their content, privacy practices and services are controlled by their operators. Check their terms when you leave Saffron Shops.
8. Responsibility and liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Subject to that, we are not responsible for a listed business’s acts or omissions or for failures of an external service we do not control. This does not exclude responsibility for our own conduct where the law makes us responsible.
If you use the website as a consumer, your statutory rights remain unaffected. We do not exclude liability for loss that the law requires us to compensate. If you use it for business purposes, to the extent permitted by law we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss and loss of profit, revenue or business opportunity arising from that business use.

10. Changes, concerns and governing law
We may revise these terms to reflect changes to the site or applicable law. The updated date will appear above. Changes apply prospectively and do not remove rights that have already arisen.
